Educational Support

In addition to our normal facilities and services such as tours, lectures, school visits, cultural events, etc., Museum Kurá Hulanda also offers educational support to schools and other interested groups.

Tasks and Questions

We have three age categories - 8-9 years old, 10-13 years old and 14-16 years old and Museum Kurá Hulanda has prepared a questionnaire for the students to use. Important information is included on this sheet which will help guide the students on their tour through the museum and also help them identify items of interest. These forms are available to teachers at the museum and it is also possible to download the form below to prepare in advance for the visit. As the spoken language at the schools here on Curaçao is Dutch, the forms are written in this language.

Quest puzzle

Effortlessly the children will search through the museum finding the right answers to their puzzle. While doing this, they will walk below the City Gate of Djennée, go inside a ship's hold, sit in a boat and get a good look at the Dogon granaries. This way they learn a lot in an exciting way! The Quest puzzle is available at the museum or you can download it below in order to prepare in advance for your visit to the museum.

Bajanala

Bajanala, a stranger in Africa, is the title of the book written by Jacob G. Dekker (Founder of Museum Kurá Hulanda). Travelling from Cairo to Cape Town, children asked him to tell their stories to the rest of the world. In Bajanala he retells these stories. This book illustrates that children in Africa also have dreams. Copies of this childrens book will be given to the primary schools of Curaçao free of charge. The book is available in three languages: Dutch, Papiamentu and English.
